Kivio mp is based on the open source program Kivio, but has a number of differences. Most importantly, it is a cross-platform product. Windows, Mac OS X and Linux binaries are included in the package.
Kivio mp is also offered under a different license than Kivio. The open source version of Kivio is under the GNU Public License; Kivio mp is offered under a special license from theKompany.com, under which terms the purchaser is given a copy of the source code but may not redistribute it.
Can Kivio mp import/export Visio shapes/documents?
No. This is on our list of TODOs, but due to Visio's closed file format, it has a very low priority.
Can Kivio mp import/export Dia shapes/documents?
Not yet. This may be implemented in the future.
What license is Kivio mp released under?
While the open source version of Kivio, part of KOffice, is offered under the terms of the GNU Public License, Kivio mp is offered under a special license from theKompany.com. Purchasers of Kivio mp will receive a copy of the complete source code for the program, but may not release or redistribute the source code to third parties. Stencil set data is copywritten by theKompany.com.
What platforms are supported by Kivio mp?
Kivio mp currently supports both Linux (any distribution, on Intel platforms; PowerPC support is planned), Mac OS X 10.3.x and Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP.
