tkWhiteboard is our innovative approach to collaborative, Internet based white boarding applications. Why is it innovative? Because we decided to use Jabber as the transport mechanism. If you aren't familiar with Jabber, then you should read up on it, but it is typically used as an Instant Messaging platform, but the protocol is very extensible as evidenced by tkWhiteboard.

We also have a Jabber client for plugin called tkJabberPro. Both of these applications are also available on the Sharp Zaurus PDA from our Embedded product section. tkWhiteboard runs on Linux and Windows with a Mac OS X port coming soon.

The combination of both a desktop and PDA based collaborative drawing tool allows you to work with mobile users to quickly share and visualize information. Using Jabber allows you to deploy your own internal, secure servers if you wish, and at a very low cost unlike service companies that charge thousands of dollars a month to provide this kind of functionality.
